A Kind of Justice by Margaret Wood
A gritty drama set in World War II for which we won
"The Oxted Cup" at the Betchworth Festival in 1971.
This gripping drama tells the story of when the liberating soldiers take over a farmhouse. The farmer's young wife is told that the soldiers have shot her husband.
The soldiers demand that she gives them wine but, before they drink any, they want her to prove she has not poisoned it by giving some to her baby son and drinking some herself. She does as they ask and then pours the wine for the soldiers.
By the morning they are all dead except for one soldier who didn't drink.
